LG Electronics has showcased its latest audio video lineup at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The portfolio of premium AV products includes the space-saving SoundPlate (model LAB540W), Wireless Audio System (mode NP8740) and the sleek Sound Bar (model NB5540).
The new AV products were designed to accompany LG’s flat screen and Smart TV range.
Slim shady
The SoundPlate is the epitome of slim, rising a mere 39.5mm above its base. Incredibly space efficient, it slides underneath a variety of 32- to 55-inch TVs. Life uncluttered. It features a robust 4.1 channel, 320W sound system and wireless subwoofer.
The SoundPlate also serves as a connectivity hub, featuring a built-in 3D Blu-ray player with LG Smart TV functionality. Customers can also use a second screen device to wirelessly stream content to the SoundPlate via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
An aural mesh
Winner of a 2014 CES Innovation Award, the LG Wireless Audio System features the latest mesh network technology – dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4/5Ghz) to deliver high quality streaming audio.
Thanks to the mesh technology, speakers around the home can play the same song (Party Mode); or different songs through each speaker (Personal Mode).
Digital audio collections can be accessed without a home network. Meanwhile a downloadable app turns your smartphone into a master controller.
TV’s best friend
The LG Sound Bar is the perfect accompaniment for the TV set. The minimalist design and polished dark silver finish will feel completely at home with modern thin-bezel TVs.
The Sound Bar offers 4.1 channels and 320W of output. Despite its slim body, the Sound Bar delivers rich audio thanks to its two forward-facing and two rear-facing channel configuration. The unit employs a Hi-Fi DAC, Analog Class D amp, comes built-in with Bluetooth, and supports HDMI with Audio Return Channel (ARC), enabling it to connect to a TV using a single cable.
A winning run
LG continues to pile up accolades and awards. Its Micro Audio System (model CM3430) was an EISA 2013 Award winner, the NB5530 Sound Bar was honoured with a Red Dot Design Award, and the NB4530A Sound Bar received am iF Design Award. What Hi-Fi also gave it five stars.
