Apple may be offering an even cheaper iPhone this week – an 8GB iPhone 5c, making it the new entry-level iPhone model. The 8GB iPhone 5c will be available in the full gamut of 5c colours. Apple currently offers the iPhone 5c in 16GB and 32GB configurations.

The source of the leak is German blog Caschys Blog which revealed an alleged note by German carrier O2 to retailers. The note claims the iPhone 5c will cost 509 euros (USD707) as compared to 569 euros (USD791) of the 16GB model.

Boosting iPhone 5c sales

Since its introduction, the iPhone 5c has seen lacklustre sales worldwide, with its more expensive sibling, the iPhone 5s outselling it by a substantial margin. Apple may be looking to give iPhone 5c sales a a boot in the behind for the next couple of quarters.
